The perfect 50s couple

Filming and editing has been very stressful but we have finally finished our final product and I will show you very soon. I have a little story to tell first. Two weeks ago I called Johnny Rockets for permission to film and they gave me a slot for this week to film which made filming so much more hectic. I called prior to filming and they said that we could not anymore which really complicated everything. I got upset because I had such high hopes that I could feel and decided to ask in person. I drove all the way down to Johnny Rockets all slammed up in my 50s outfit and they finally agreed ONCE AGAIN. What a dilemma!!]

Anyways, here is our finished costumes for " Through Aging Eyes":

Mise-en-scene

Being able to recreate 50's themed settings and people can be quite difficult and I believe that it is the most important aspect of our film opening: making our audience feel as if they were in the 50's.

Since we are on a low budget, Johnny Rockets was able to give us permission to shoot our film at their restaurant. My blogposts have been centered around the clothing and setting of the film opening because I want to be able to perfect it. I have already mastered the make-up but I was having trouble with the hair aspect of this film. I was looking for videos on youtube that indicated step-by-step on how to complete a 50's updo and here is what I found:

This tutorial caught my attention because it was Marilyn Monroe's iconic hairstyle. Marilyn Monroe set an example in society with her great success in her time as well as the demonstration of more skin which was not accepted in society during this time period. Her use of "revealing" dresses and multiple marriages as well as countless scandals was a big change in this time and I believed this helped progress with the assimilation of women into a more equal society. She is an iconic figure in my generation as well, amongst the millenial women not as much for men. I decided to verify if this hairstyle was used by Marilyn Monroe and was able to find an article that states that Marilyn used retro waves which is the look that the youtube video was achieving.

Music

Daniel and I were able to choose the music for our opening film. We have decided to do a piano song for the beginning of our opening film since we have chosen to start off gloomy, in a hospital setting. 7 Years Old by Luke Graham is our  inspiration song but the piano version. The beginning of our film revolves around the death of a loved one so I believe the most appropriate song would be using a piano song. Daniel and I have had issues with filming since we both have excruciating circumstances in our own personal lives and has made it extremely difficult to film together. We have also had trouble finding people who are willing to act in our film and that are also great at it. We have to overcome our own personal schedules to be able to effectively film. We have the entire movie planned out and it is a great plan but the execution has been our issue. Daniel and I are making a schedule to have time to put together our movie. Everything is planned out accordingly and no details are missing which is great so that filming will be more efficient as well as editing.

Here is our music inspiration:
